A Clovis Armenian school announced Friday it has been awarded a donation of $1 million to be used for expansion in the coming years.

The Charlie Keyan Armenian Community School (SKACS) announced the donation on behalf of the Elaine Hamparson Trust on Friday. Hamparson was a local educator who was beloved for her commitment to empowering local organizations to make an impact in their communities.

“We are humbled and extremely appreciative that after evaluating our program, visiting our campus, and seeing our vision for the future of CKACS, the trustees of Elaine Hamparson’s estate have selected our school as the recipient of this generous donation,” said Chairman of the Board Christopher Shamlain, DDS.

The donation will help fund a new state-of-the-art campus in the Fresno area.

“This donation will undoubtedly be the catalyst for our next stage of growth, and we are excited to see its effects in our Armenian community,” Shamlain said.

Opened in 1977, CKACS is the only Armenian school in the region. It is located at 108 N. Villa Ave. in Clovis
