The Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County announced that longtime President and CEO Diane Carbray intends to retire this summer.

A new CEO with a background in nonprofits, defense manufacturing, the business of sports and more is taking the reins.

Carbray will retire from her position on June 30. She has served with the Boys & Girls Club for 19 years, joining the organization as assistant executive director in 2006, according to a news release.

She plans to spend time with family, travel and pursue other interests, according to the release.

Jason Hannold will step into the role as CEO effective June 16. He’s a former vice president of sales for the Fresno Grizzlies and sales manager for a Fresno microwave isolator manufacturer with defense and space contractor clients. He currently serves as CEO of The Rotary Club of Fresno.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County celebrated its 75th year of operations last year, offering diverse programming for 3,200 young members at 14 clubs throughout the county. Carbray was instrumental in leading efforts renovate facilities, expand the transportation fleet and conduct a successful comprehensive capital campaign. Carbray has been active in the community, serving on several boards and bringing Minor League Baseball and the downtown stadium to Fresno with her late husband, John Carbray.

“We have only been able to accomplish so much in the past few years, because of our generous donors and the dedication of our staff and Board of Directors,” said Carbray. “I’m very proud of this organization, and its mission and want to thank everyone in the community who has helped elevate opportunities for youth over the years.”

Hannold is described as a dynamic leader with extensive experience in business operations management, sport and educational commerce, and community-based organizations. His career began in the sports industry, where he worked in various roles for the Fresno Grizzlies.

Beyond sports, he has a background in real estate, aerospace and defense manufacturing, and has contributed to nonprofit organizations, notably serving as a board member for United Cerebral Palsy as well as a participant in the Fresno Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Fresno Steering Committee.

As a vocal advocate for the Central Valley’s regional agricultural community, he was awarded an honorary California State FFA Degree in 2019, according to the release.

“I’ve always wanted to help make a big impact and difference in our Central Valley communities,” said Hannold. “Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County has a long-standing tradition of creating a safe, fun, and respectable environment for our children. I am fortunate for this opportunity and look forward to working with the team as we begin to take this organization on to greater heights!”
