The historic Bekins building in Downtown Fresno has sold to Bekins MC Holdings LLC from Brad Metzner, John Diangelis and Christy Metzner, trustees. The seven-story warehouse at 301 Van Ness Ave., built in 1922, spans approximately 56,320 square feet on 1.27 acres.
Ethan Smith of Newmark Pearson Commercial and Graham & Associates represented the transaction with Beau Plumlee of Colliers International. The concrete structure, dubbed the Bekins “castle,” is one of eight warehouses the pioneering moving and storage family built across California in the early 1900s.
Developer Reza Assemi and his business partner Jaime Gonzalez are part of the team that bought the building. Gonzalez told The Fresno Bee that plans call for a “modern-day man cave” that could include a bar, floors for classic car storage and space for live music and entertainment.
The Bee reported the building was sold for $2.25 million.
