A women-owned Canadian company specializing in pet product branding is making moves in Fresno County.

Newmark Pearson Commercial reported this week the sale of a 31,000 square-foot industrial building at 2350 Academy Ave. in Sanger. The buyer was Golden Bridge International Pet Brands & Service Corp. The seller was Cargill Meat Solutions Corp.

When reached by phone Wednesday, Ginger Jiang, founder and CEO of Golden Bridge, said she would have more to share about her company’s plans with the facility later this month.

Vancouver, British Columbia-based Golden Bridge describes itself as a service company established by a group of pet lovers with professional backgrounds helping companies brand, manage and promote their pet product ventures in Asia and North America.

It lists major national retailers Petco, Costco, Walmart and PetSmart among its partners.

“I consider myself a practical dreamer,” Jiang said in her LinkedIn bio. “I love to put ideas into real ideal products, love to make products into the profit margin. After 17 years in the pet trade, I fall, I stand up. I fall again and stand up again. Love the challenges. Love the pet industry.”

Jiang was previously CEO of Canadian Jerky Co. LTD, maker of premium pet food and treats.

According to an online listing for the property, it was built in 2005 and put on the market for sale in June 2022.

The agent in the transaction, Daniel Simon of Newmark Pearson Commercial in Fresno, said Cargill operated a plant at the site producing animal-based dog treats up until a year ago. Some of the equipment remains, which would be used by Golden Bridge to make similar products.

“Cargill kept the property in really good shape,” he said. “In my opinion, it was a fantastic deal.”

David Brletic, senior planner and interim community development director for the City of Sanger, said Jiang first reached out to the city for inquiries about six months ago.

He said a Certificate of Occupancy should issued by the city this month, and there is anticipation the plant will come online very soon.

“We are thrilled to have an existing, contemporary plant get put back into use,” Brletic said. “It’s difficult when we have operations go out, so we are thrilled to have them [Golden Bridge] come right back in and put it right back to its intended use.”

Daniel Simon of Newmark Pearson Commercial was the agent in cooperation with James Griffin and Tony Cortopassi of Cushman & Wakefield.
