Camarena Health introduced its new 5-building medical campus on Almond Avenue in Madera on Wednesday during a stakeholder open house.

The complex, located at 750-780 E. Almond Ave., totals 30,000 square feet of a variety of medical facilities offering various services. It opened in phases, with Almond Urgent Care opening in October 2021 and Almond Dental Center and Almond Health Center opening in December 2021.

The remaining buildings, located at 770 and 780 E. Almond Ave., were completed in July and are unfinished — to be specially purposed to meet community needs.

The campus, nicknamed “Almond Campus,” will employ more than 40 medical staff when it is fully functional, including six medical providers, two women’s health providers, as well as two dental providers and one behavioral health provider.

“Camarena Health is very excited and proud to offer this great, new medical campus to the community of Madera,” said Camarena Health CEO Paulo Soares. “The ability to place several buildings and multiple services in one location helps to increase the ability to more easily access services for our patients.”

The largest building combines two former health center locations into one, offering patients family medicine, women’s health, behavioral health and health education services.

The complex was constructed to help Camarena Health provide care to patients in southwest Madera with room for expansion in the future.

“The fact that we were able to develop this campus and leave a few buildings currently unoccupied gives Camarena Health the opportunity to grow and add additional services to this campus in the future to keep pace with the growing needs of our community,” Soares said.

Camarena Health opened in 1980 and serves Fresno, Madera and Mariposa counties. The federally qualified health center provided care to more than 277,000 patients in 2021 throughout its 18 health center locations.
