National off-price retailer Burlington Stores is expanding its California footprint with a new location set to open in Fresno this fall — replacing a former Big Lots store on East Cesar Chavez Boulevard.

The new store, located at 4895 East Cesar Chavez Blvd., marks Burlington’s 114th location in California and comes as part of the company’s national growth strategy. Burlington currently operates over 1,115 stores nationwide.

According to a news release, the Fresno location will feature Burlington’s updated store concept, designed to improve the shopping experience with a more navigable layout, new signage and slogan — “Deals. Brands. WOW!” This is part of a broader company initiative to modernize its stores, with all new openings reflecting the elevated format. The company expects to complete the transition across its store network by the end of 2026.

Big Lots began closing down its Central Valley retail stores last year after filing for bankruptcy. Under new ownership, it announced plans in April to reopen 132 stores in May exclusively in the eastern U.S.

The store will offer an extensive product mix, including women’s fashion (with petite and plus-size options), menswear (including big and tall sizes), junior and children’s apparel, footwear, home décor, baby essentials, beauty products and pet items — all at significant discounts, according to the release.

The company is actively hiring for a variety of roles at the new location and encourages interested applicants to visit BurlingtonStores.jobs.

Headquartered in New Jersey, Burlington Stores reported net sales of $10.6 billion for fiscal year 2024. It is a Fortune 500 company traded on the NYSE under the ticker “BURL.”

There are currently four Burlington locations in the Fresno area. The Tulare County cities of Visalia and Tulare recently saw new Burlington locations.
