The Bulldog Fan Zone announced Sunday on its social media pages that it will close its doors in February after 23 years in business.
The store first opened as Sequoia Textbooks in 1999 and in 2014 rebranded to Bulldog Fan Zone. Located directly across the street from the Fresno State campus at the corners of Shaw and Maple avenues, Bulldog Fan Zone sells Fresno State merchandise ranging from apparel to collectibles and other licensed Fresno State gear.
The store will be offering a 25% off sale from now until closing, and may also offer further discounts as the closing date draws closer.
Store Manager Misty Craine said the store will remain open until they are sold out or until their lease expires at the end of February — whichever comes first.
Craine said that in December, unsuccessful attempts were made to renew the lease agreement with the landlord.
“The main reason [for closing] is the terms of the lease that the landlord wants,” Craine said.
Following the announcement, an outpouring of support was displayed by followers on Facebook and Instagram with comments thanking the store for years of service.
“We appreciate our customers,” Craine added. “We will be open and liquidating everything in the store.”
Craine said that updated sales and offers will be announced on the store’s Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as the Bulldog Fan Zone website.
