A local florist hopes to help Valley residents woo their loved ones and surprise coworkers receiving floral arrangements by adding a bit of bubbly to their special occasions.

D&L Floral, who have stores in Fresno and Clovis, now offer add-on options for floral arrangements for champagne and prosecco on their delivery bouquets and arrangements.

The drink add-ons, which will only be available through online or over-the-phone orders, follow recent trends noticed on social media by the store’s staff.

General Manager James Hensley said both he and the owner often peruse social media outlets searching for trending ideas from florists across the country; the addition of champagne and prosecco joins the florist’s already successful candy and chocolate add-ons.

“We’ve noticed there’s been a trend in the floral industry for a little over a year where some flower shops are offering a bottle of wine…that customers can purchase along with a flower arrangement and have that delivered to the recipient,” said James Hensley, General Manager at D&L Floral on Blackstone.

 

Hensley said that the business had numerous inquiries from customers about if they could come in and buy a bottle of wine – that is not allowed by the license that the store applied for; the Type 85 license restricts sales to off-site purchases/deliveries.

 

The florist will offer a local Tobin James California champagne for $20 additional charge and an imported Fratelli Italian prosecco for $25. The add-ons will be available when customers finalize their orders online or by ordering over the phone.

“This was something that we thought was very interesting and we thought might be a really good idea to provide the service for the customer,” Hensley said.

Customers will be required to verify their age upon receipt of their order by presenting a valid driver’s license or identification.

Blackstone Ave. and their Clovis store, located at 872 Herndon Ave. – and are open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
