BLARE Media, a Fresno-based production company, will roll out the red carpet on Oct. 3, when “An American Abroad” premieres at the historic Crest Theatre in Downtown Fresno.
“An American Abroad” is described as a romantic comedy/ mockumentary and was co-created by brothers Justin and Ian McAleece, who are longtime advocates for building a sustainable film economy in the Central Valley. They are the owners of BLARE Media.
“This premiere is more than just about the film,” Justin said. “It’s about celebrating Fresno’s thriving filmmaking community and showing the world that incredible stories can be created right here in our backyard.”
BLARE Media was founded in Fresno and has evolved into a video production company with clients ranging from local businesses to national brands.
Its work in commercials, branded content and feature films has provided opportunities for regional filmmakers, editors and crew members to gain experience without leaving the Central Valley.
“An American Abroad” was written, directed and produced by Marcia Kimpton, a filmmaker who has worked in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The PG-13 film follows a travel host and her conservative boyfriend as they travel through Europe, Africa and more.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the screening at 8 p.m., followed by a live Q&A with cast and filmmakers. Tickets are available online.
