After almost six months of operation, Fresno’s Black Bear Diner is getting ready to celebrate its grand opening Aug. 20.

A menagerie of mascots from Fresno State, Valley Children’s Hospital and the outdoors-themed family restaurant will be on-site for the event starting at 3 p.m., with a 3:15 p.m. ribbon cutting.

As part of a fundraiser, Amy and Bob Rose, co-owners of seven Black Bear Diner restaurants throughout the Valley, will donate 10% of the sales that day from each of the restaurants and 5% of the week’s sales (Aug. 19-25) will go toward Valley Children’s.

The diner at 3602 W. Shaw Ave. is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 6 a.m. through 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
