A Bass Lake destination will play host to a retreat that promises attendees an exhilarating experience with cold exposure, breathwork and farm-to-table dining.

The Pines Resort is inviting guests on what it calls a transformative weekend retreat March 21-24 on the Wim Hof Method. Hof, known as The Iceman, is a Dutch extreme athlete who has held world records for swimming under and being exposed to ice and cold. His “Wim Hof Method” promises an opportunity to enhance mental focus, manage pain and boost immunity.

The retreat, led by instructor Chuck McGee III — who was directly certified by Wim Hof and known for his expertise in Iced Viking Breathworks — includes daily sunrise and sunset breathwork sessions, morning and evening baths in a private pool with views of Bass Lake, all-inclusive meals by Ducey’s On The Lake and an adventurous hike in Yosemite.

“Meeting and training with Wim Hof was an incredible privilege. I am thrilled to bring this workshop to Bass Lake and Yosemite, offering a blend of breathwork, cold exposure, and nature to unlock profound health benefits,” says Chuck McGee III. “This retreat is not just about learning techniques; it’s about embracing a lifestyle that promotes vitality and peace of mind.”

Participants choose from two-story chalets or lakeside suites, with prices starting at $1,550 per person. The package includes all sessions, meals, a guided Yosemite hike and more.

“Ducey’s on the Lake will offer meals that complement the holistic nature of the Wim Hof Method. The restaurant’s farm-to-table approach ensures that participants enjoy nutritious, locally sourced meals throughout their stay,” said Executive Chef Dwayne McFann.

Mark Choe, owner of The Pines Resort, hopes the retreat helps attendees discover something about themselves.

“Partnering with Chuck McGee III to bring the Wim Hof Method workshop to our resort is an honor. We’re ready to provide an unforgettable experience where participants can explore their limits, surrounded by the natural beauty of Bass Lake and Yosemite,” Choe said.
