On Friday four horses were seized by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office for suspected animal cruelty in Sanger. The horses are now in the care of Central California Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals/Fresno County Humane Society (CCSPCA).

CCSPCA is asking for donations that will help with medical expenses, feed and ongoing daily needs. The horses are expected to be with CCSPCA’s care for the foreseeable future.

Donations can be made here: ccspca.com/support-the-ccspca/donate.

Angie Wood brought her and her neighbors’ concerns to FOX26 when she discovered the horses appeared to be malnourished.

Wood contacted Fresno Humane on June 20, sending pictures of the horses after watching them lose weight at a rapid rate. Wood said the owner of the horses stated they were being rehabilitated.

After some time, Wood said the horses didn’t show any positive improvements to their appearance. On Sept. 2 a horse was found dead and Wood reported once again to Fresno Humane.

Late Friday evening, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department removed the four malnourished horses.
