Hot Dog on a Stick, a fast-food corn dog chain and shopping mall staple, will be closing its longtime location in the Sierra Vista Mall in Clovis.

Franchise owner Rosalind Butler-Patrick is hosting a “grand closing” event Saturday and Sunday as a thank you to customers. She plans to be there Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A social media post promoting the “grand closing” says: “Join us for a farewell celebration to reminisce and thank our loyal customers. Purchase a hot dog on a stick and lemonade to help us close this chapter in Clovis. We look forward to seeing familiar faces and making these final days special.”

The Sierra Vista Mall location is one of two in the Central Valley, with the other in the Fashion Fair Mall food court that is also owned by Butler-Patrick. The Fashion Fair location will remain open.

Hot Dog on a Stick originated in Santa Monica in 1946, and most of its locations are in Southern California. In addition to its hand-dipped corn dogs, Hot Dog on a Stick is also known for its lemonade, “hand stomped” by associates in store using fresh lemons.

The franchise now has 70 locations across seven states, according to its website

Butler-Patrick has been with Hot Dog on a Stick since 2000 when she started as a team member trying to cover expenses for her senior year of high school.

In an Instagram post from April 15, Butler-Patrick highlighted 24 years with the franchise, working her way up the ladder.

“Who would of thought it would be this ..From employee to assistant manager, manager, mentor manager, marking coordinator, opening and rebuilding stores to Franchise Owner. Not sure what the future holds but I am thankful for the journey,” she wrote.
