The City of Fresno is preparing to unveil Fresno Yosemite International Airport’s largest expansion in its history.

On Wednesday, Mayor Jerry Dyer and Councilmember Tyler Maxwell will hold a news conference to unveil the city’s investment in strengthening its role as a growing regional and international gateway.

The 95,000-square-foot terminal expansion development project, dubbed FATforward, cost about $150 million and broke ground in May 2023.

The expansion was funded through several federal infrastructure grants, including Federal Aviation Administration grants, passenger facility charges and airport revenue bonds, with no City of Fresno funds being used.

The terminal expansion features a new terminal concourse with more domestic and international passenger gates and larger boarding areas, two additional aircraft parking positions, a new Federal Inspection Station for international travels, a friends-and-family plaza area to welcome international travelers, an expanded Transportation Security Administration checkpoint screening area and new concession areas for retail and dining.

The expansion adds 8,000 square feet to the security checkpoint, shifting passenger queuing from the lobby to within the security checkpoint footprint.

Popular local favorite Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant was also planned for the new terminal expansion concourse.
