British pop icon Morrissey announced a 12-city North American tour Monday, including stops in Fresno and Bakersfield.

It’s been nearly 10 years since his last Central Valley appearance, according to a webs search.

The swing through Fresno on Monday, April 28 will have the music industry legend performing at the downtown Warnors Theatre, which seats 2,100.

Known for his hits including “Suedehead,” “This Charming Man,” “Irish Blood, English Heart” and more, Morrissey has been performing for nearly 50 years, featuring a string of No. 1 records, as well as an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British music.

Morrissey received a 2024 Social Vanguard Award recognizing his “outstanding service and dedication to animal rights.”

Morrissey has also been known for canceling and walking out of his shows, including last November in Dallas after a fan rushed the stage.

Beginning his career as lead singer of The Smiths, Morrissey released four albums with the band before refocusing his efforts on his solo career in 1987, cultivating his sound and selling out shows around the world.

Morrissey will make his Central Valley appearances on Monday, April 28, in Fresno at the Warnors Theatre and again on Wednesday, April 30, when he will take the stage at The Historic Fox Theatre in Bakersfield.

The last appearance by Morrissey in Fresno was at the Rainbow Ballroom on Sept. 10, 2002. He played at Visalia’s Fox Theatre on Aug. 29, 2015.

Morrissey will conclude the California leg of his tour with shows in San Diego on May 1, and Rancho Mirage on May 3 before setting out for Arizona. The North American swing wraps in Hollywood, Florida, at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on May 17.

Tickets go on sale Feb. 6 at the Warnors Center Box Office, located at 1412 Fulton St., in Fresno. Tickets will also be available online or by calling (559) 264-2848.
