Fresno-based Caylym Technologies International is receiving federal recognition as a veteran-owned business for its exports to Australia, Romania and Uruguay valued at $2.2 million.
Caylym will be presented the International Trade Administration’s Export Achievement Certificate award at its headquarters next week.
Caylym is a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business that designed a patented firefighting system called “The Guardian” — a 264-gallon container of water or fire retardant dropped from cargo aircraft to rain down on wildfires.
“The U.S. Commercial Service was pleased in assisting Caylym Technologies International with the export process, allowing the company to sell its products, meet with prescreened representatives, and successfully enter into new foreign markets,” said Bernadette Rojas, Central Valley and Coastal California Director, U.S. Commercial Service – Fresno, in a news release.
Caylym sold its products to the Uruguay Air Force, shipped its first export order to the Romanian government, signed multiple training sessions and appointed a new representative in Australia.
Exports are an important part of Caylym’s business because despite the need for wildfire suppression in California and the U.S., their products are not authorized for use by the U.S. Forest Service.
“The U.S. Commercial Service (USCS) Fresno team continues to be critical to Caylym’s success in the international communities. In both the aerial firefighting and crisis response markets, the USCS expertise and ability to marshal resources for our business have subsequently enabled two-fold growth in the South American regions. The U.S. Commercial Service is a vital resource to enable our small business to think and do BIG things around the world” said Rick Goddard, CEO of Caylym Technologies International, in a news release.
The U.S. Commercial Service at the Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration created the Export Achievement Certificate program recognizing U.S. companies as general small businesses. These businesses have successfully entered new markets or expanded sales of new products into overseas markets. As a result, export counseling introductions were made to the Export-Import Bank of the United States and the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development virtual programs.
Rep. Jim Costa will present the certificate to Caylym Technologies International on behalf of the U.S. Commercial Service.
