After about 6 minutes of back and forth bidding Tuesday from three different parties inside a federal courtroom, Madera Community Hospital will move forward with selling 35.58 acres of farmland to a nearby raisin processing company for $730,000.
For 10 years, the hospital owned and rented out the 35.58 acres of land to almond farmers, who had proposed buying the land in July for $569,280. The sale of the land will help the hospital scrape away at some of its more than $30 million in debt.
