A public auction will be held Oct. 10 to purchase the 29-acre property in southeast Fresno known as the former University Medical Center campus.
All offers for the property are due by that date, when they will be unsealed at a meeting held at the Fresno County Hall of Records. The minimum bid for the property is $ 6 million. A $50,000 non-refundable deposit is required to submit a bid.
The San Joaquin Valley Sun reported that Fresno County Board of Supervisors voted to extend the sale date of the property to Sept. 19, but due to a clerical error, offers couldn’t be considered until Oct. 10 — if there are any.
The property was declared surplus back in April, but no offers came in, reported The Sun.
Fresno County has had a rough go trying to sell the property. A $4 million deal in 2019 with a Fresno construction company fell through after a conflict of interest conviction. The Fresno City Council in 2021 attempted to purchase the property to build affordable housing, but the deal later fell through.
