Two men have pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit credit and debit card fraud, according to U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert.

In 2015 Akop Dongelyan, 47, of Glendale and Artak Vardanyan, 40, of Burbank went on a crime spree in Fresno and Southern California where they stole multiple victims’ credit and debit card information through the use of skimmers placed at gas stations.

According to court records, the men used the stolen information to make counterfeit credit and debit cards and fraudulently withdraw $198,000 from their victims’ accounts.

In Fresno, the pair used counterfeit cards to make withdrawals at various Fresno ATM locations, including Bank of America, 7-11 convenience stores and CVS pharmacies totaling nearly $4,200.

Dongelyan is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 6 and Vardanyan on Oct. 1 by U.S. District Judge Ana de Alba. Each man faces a maximum statutory penalty of five years in prison and $250,000 fine. However, the actual sentences will be determined at the discretion of the court.
