A new Downtown Fresno night market from Fresno Street Eats debuts Friday. ¡VAMOS! Aims to bring Hispanic flavor to a traditionally Asian event.

¡VAMOS! takes place Friday from 5 p.m.-10 p.m. on Fulton Street between Inyo and Tulare streets, and will focus on celebrating the Central Valley’s Hispanic culture, offering food, shopping, music and art.

It’s a new spin on the night market tradition common in Southeast Asia that has come to Chinatown and West Fresno.

Mike Osegueda, president of Fresno Street Eats, said ¡VAMOS! will give local vendors an opportunity to showcase tacos and other Mexican foods from different regions of Mexico.

Osegueda said the concept for ¡VAMOS! has been in mind for about two years, but this Friday, he and Fresno Street Eats are happy to put on the event.

The event will not only feature familiar food trucks from Fresno Street Eats but will also highlight other local storefront businesses.

¡VAMOS! takes place in the same section of Fulton Street as FresYes Fest, which may be familiar to some attendees. Osegueda said the location is not usually used by Fresno Street Eats, but is familiar enough to create a comfortable atmosphere for the inaugural ¡VAMOS! night market.

“We’re going to have the Kern Plaza area. A few of the shops in that area are going to stay open later or do pop ups outside,” he said. “[We are] Just trying to just engage some of those businesses in different ways.”

Mammoth Mall will feature several participating businesses, as well as Ruiz Fresh Fruits, Lune Wine Bar and other local establishments.

Osegueda said that currently, there is no scheduled follow-up event, but a second ¡VAMOS!  will likely take place later this year.

“We at Fresno Street Eats are always trying to think of fun, new things that we can do and ways to engage the community,” he said. “I think, in the case of this one specifically, ways to get people downtown and engaged in local businesses.”
