A Fresno law and advocacy firm is launching a training program to support women in business.

The Latina-owned Cid and Macedo Social Justice Strategists firm is launching an eight-week entrepreneur training course in partnership with the Office of Senator Anna Caballero.

Co-founders Aida Macedo and Amparo Cid, both attorneys and consultants, have experience advancing social justice issues by providing support for women, people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, research and strategic planning with communities, and providing pro bono support to nonprofit organizations in the Central Valley, according to a news release.

The eight-week course, “Emprendedora Jump-Start” was created by Cid to share her successes and failures as a serial entrepreneur to inspire women in the Central Valley to jumpstart their businesses.

Over the course, participants will be trained in topics including the power of entrepreneurship, business structures, negotiations and contracts, tracking progress and closing projects, and being their own spokesperson outside of social media.

“Communities in the Central Valley have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 pandemic, severe weather, and cumulative health impacts. Becoming an entrepreneur is one way to heal our under resourced communities and drive economic change that creates opportunity for all,” Cid said.

Senator Caballero said that in her visits to communities in her district, she is often asked about guidance and support for people of color, specifically women who want to start their own business.

“Therefore, I searched high and low to find a team that could provide a safe and informative workshop to help women start to think about their future,” Caballero said. “Luckily, Cid and Macedo Social Strategists have the talent and experience and were willing to collaborate to bring this important information to community leaders like yourself.”

The training series begins on Feb. 3 at 6:30 p.m. and will be offered virtually.
