Locals from the Central Valley may recognize a familiar name on Yelp’s Top-100 Restaurants list for 2023, with Sam’s Italian Deli and Market representing Fresno at number 68 on the nationwide list.

Sam’s, located on the corner of First St and Clinton Ave, has provided the Valley with both groceries and sandwiches for more than 40 years, creating an authentic deli experience for customers.

“We couldn’t do it without the support of our friends and our community,” said Nick Marziliano, owner of Sam’s Italian Deli and Market.

The store also offers selections of wines, as well as catering services, charcuterie boards, breads, and desserts. 

“When I first saw ‘top-100,’ I thought we made the top-100 of our area,” Marziliano added. “We’re definitely very honored with the recognition.”

The list, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, was recently released and features 28 California restaurants, more than any other state, topping Florida (14) and Texas (8).

Yelp’s Top-100 Restaurants list, which is compiled from the country’s most highly-rated restaurants, ranked Los Angeles Hawaiian-Korean cafe Broken Mout the top restaurant in the U.S. 

California topped the nation in food selections, with five of the top-10 restaurants located in the state.
