A local recycling company with a growing national reach is being recognized for its efforts in going green.

Electronic Recyclers International (ERI) in Fresno announced that it is the first electronic recycling company and electronics asset disposition (ITAD)  provider to achieve an official carbon neutral status.

The cybersecurity-focused hardware destruction company is now 100% carbon neutral for all its operational emissions nationwide.

The company has worked for years to reduce its carbon footprint with its partnership with TIME CO2, TIME magazine’s environmental sustainability division, and the CO2.com platform.

“We’re incredibly proud to have voluntarily taken this critical next step in our ongoing mission to protect the planet,” said ERI’s Chairman/CEO John Shegerian. “We have been working towards being carbon neutral since our very inception, implementing carbon-reducing measures such as recycled furniture, zero emission vehicles used by our sales team, energy efficient lighting, electric forklifts on our facility floors, shifting to off-peak demand energy usage, fleet management, uniquely paper-efficient business cards, and more.”

Shegerian said that ERI chose the CO2.com platform because it enables the company to maximize its impact with a climate action portfolio, offsetting its own carbon emissions by supporting other emissions-reducing projects.

With this partnership, ERI offset efforts are channeled to like-minded climate projects that are vetted from every angle.

ERI works with all of its partners and customers to increase the volume of material captured within a closed loop. This dedication has earned ERI an A rating, the highest awarded to a company in the industry,  from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Circulytics tool, which measures progress towards a circular economy.

ERI also announced that due to continued growth, it has opened a new recycling facility in  Goodyear, Arizona, making it the company’s 13 operational location and ninth full-scale recycling facility.

The new facility will serve as a southwestern recycling operations hub for ERI.
