Two of Fresno’s leading cancer care centers have been acquired by national networks in as many weeks.
The purchases give each firm a new presence in Central California.
Nashville, Tennessee-based Integrated Oncology Network announced the purchase of California Cancer Associates for Research & Excellence, or cCARE, on April 22. cCARE consists of more than 30 providers across six centers in Fresno and San Diego. The Fresno location is at 7130 N. Millbrook Ave.

Integrated Oncology Network has more than 100 providers throughout its 57 centers across 14 states. Its California operations are centered in Southern California. It is a portfolio company of Illinois-based private equity firm Silver Oak Services Partners.
The terms of the cCARE acquisition were not disclosed.
And on Monday, The Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation in Cerritos, California announced it had acquired Women’s Cancer Care, which specializes in breast and gynecology patients. The practice is located at 6121 N. Thesta St., Suite 204, in Fresno.
The Oncology Institute employs more than 80 clinicians and 600 teammembers in 50 locations in the U.S. Operations are predominately located in Southern California, but it also has a presence in Nevada, Arizona and Florida.

The Oncology Institute is traded under the symbol TOI on NASDAQ. Terms of the Women’s Cancer Care acquisition were not yet reflected in filings with the Security and Exchange Commission as of Tuesday.
Founded in 1993, cCARE is the largest full-service private oncology and hematology practice in California. In 2018, cCARE began seeing patients in a redesigned 65,000-square-foot outpatient center on the campus of Sain Agnes Medical Center.
“Our team is excited to partner with ION, whose highly complementary offerings, vision, and culture, will facilitate a seamless integration,” said Dr. Jedidiah Monson, president of cCARE. “ION’s deep and highly experienced management team paired with Silver Oak’s additional capital and expertise will accelerate current and future growth initiatives across the combined platform.”
Women’s Cancer Care is run by Dr. Christopher R. Perkins and Dr. Lisa Ge. Established in 2001, it was formerly known as California Oncology of the Central Valley. It was rebranded as Women’s Cancer Care last year to emphasize patient relationships.
“I am thrilled to join the exceptional care providers at TOI, which will elevate the outstanding medical and cancer resources available to women across the Central Valley,” stated Perkins. “Our patients will benefit greatly from the cutting-edge care solutions that TOI provides, and I look forward to growing this practice to serve even more patients.”
Women’s Cancer Care aims to provide patients the same resources and services available at all TOI locations, and will add more than 30 staff members to expand TOI’s oncology services.
Shares of TOI spiked on the news of the Fresno acquisition, gaining about 20% to its current price of $9.50 as of Tuesday morning.
