Fresno and Kings County have reached the orange tier designation for California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy, bringing even fewer Covid-19 restrictions for businesses.

The move from red to orange — or moderate — tier means that gyms and fitness center can operate at 25% of max capacity from a previous 10%, that movie theaters and restaurants can operate at 50% indoor capacity or 200 people (whichever is fewer), and wineries, breweries and distilleries can open indoors at 25% capacity or 100 people.

Fresno and Kings County join Tulare County in the orange tier, where it entered at the beginning of April.

Madera County remains in the red tier.

Earlier this month Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that the state would effectively end the Blueprint for a Safer Economy system on June 15 if certain conditions related to Covid-19 immunization, case rates and hospitalization are met. That would lift all related restrictions on businesses.
