The Reedley College Forestry and Natural Resources Program was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from Pacific Gas & Electric Co. to support acquisition of student-use laboratory equipment for courses within the program.

The Forestry and Natural Resources Program provides professional career technical education in forest and urban vegetation management, outdoor recreation site maintenance, wildlife and watershed ecology, and environmental interpretation. The program is accredited by the Society of American Foresters. The curriculum includes extensive basic and advanced skill certification including wildland fire suppression, utility forestry, arboriculture and timber stand improvement.

The program has an 800-acre school forest located at Sequoia Lake in the Sequoia National Forest. The location provides an outdoor lab that allows students the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning experiences.
