The Kern Dance Alliance (KDA) Creative Corps announced the start of the application period for grant funding open to individual artists, cultural workers, arts organizations and social service organizations.

Applicants in Central and Eastern California should submit a letter of intent (LOI) through the KDACC website, and should be submitted no later than Feb. 17.

Final applications for grant funding must be submitted by March 31.

Eligible organizations can apply for up to $300,000 in grant funding. Individuals may apply for up to $150,000.

In total, the program will be able to provide up to $4.2 million in grant funding.

“After months of work and collaboration with the state, we’re ecstatic to release our grant program guidelines and begin working with artists and organizations to enrich our communities and grow the creative economy in Central and Eastern California,” said Andrea Hansen, KDACC Program Director in a press release on Friday.

Decisions on grant dispersal are estimated to be completed on May 1.

Applicants must reside or do business in one of the 14 Central California or Eastern Sierra counties selected by KDACC. Eligible counties include Fresno, Kings, Tulare and Madera, as well as Inyo, Mariposa and others.

Individual applicants must be 18 years of age or older and must provide a letter of recommendation as well as evidence of artistic ability.

A full list of eligible counties, as well as additional requirements for individuals and organizations are listed on the website.

The program will also host educational webinars to assist applicants with developing applications.

The KDACC is part of the California Creative Corps, and works to promote community and civic engagement, as well as helping to spread awareness about climate and energy conservation.
