James J. Kim, the CEO of Community West Bank, announced Monday that a $1,035,000 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant submitted by Community West Bank for Self-Help Enterprises has been funded by the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco (FHL Bank San Francisco).

The funds will support the River Grove I affordable housing project in Oakhurst in Madera County.

Self-Help Enterprises is a community development organization that works with low-income families to build and sustain homes across California. The organization provides various services, including homebuyer assistance, repair programs and opportunities for collaborative construction to address housing needs in a number of counties including Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera and Merced.

The funding for the River Grove project will address the need for affordable housing in Oakhurst. The project is located in an area with high demand for affordable housing, and River Grove I consists of 70 multifamily rental units.

The first phase of the project has recently been completed, and residents are beginning to move in. The second phase is expected to be completed soon.

“We are deeply committed to helping address the health and well-being of the San Joaquin Valley communities that Self-Help Enterprises serves,” Kim said in a news release. “It is exciting to see their efforts significantly impacting affordable housing availability in this region.”

Tom Collishaw, the CEO of Self-Help Enterprises, added: “Community West Bank’s support has been instrumental in ensuring the successful completion of River Grove I. Their commitment to affordable housing demonstrates their dedication to making a real difference for families in Oakhurst.”
