Philanthropy Inspired by the Needs of our Community (PINC) has made its biggest contribution to date — $120,000 — with its 10th annual fundraising party, which was held last month to benefit the Valley Children’s Healthcare Oncology/Social Services Family Help Fund.

The fund is used by social workers to assist disadvantaged families within the hospital. This includes helping them with gas, meals and hotel stays.

“This is a fund that doesn’t get a lot of donations — or a lot of people don’t know about this fund,” said Ashley Webster, PINC’s incoming president. “But these families that are coming from different areas in the Valley to bring their kids to get whatever treatment it may be, they’re able to afford that by funding this.”

Webster is also the circulation manager for The Business Journal.

Funds were raised during the organization’s Prohibition-themed PINChibition party on June 2, which was held at Tornino’s Banquets at 5080 N. Blackstone Ave. The event sold out three weeks before the event, with more than 450 tickets being sold. Further funding was raised through auctions at the party.

“It’s so great to be able give back to these little fighters and their families, so they can focus on helping their child through the toughest fight of their lives,” said Ashley Hyatt, the outgoing president for PINC.

The check, worth $120,000, was presented by PINC on Wednesday morning at Valley Children’s Hospital.

“I went to the party, I saw the energy level, but more importantly, I saw how much all these ladies were dedicated to this mission,” said Valley Children’s President of Foundation Rob Saroyan. “Their hard work will result in supporting a lot of families in need that really appreciate the extra support.”
