The San Joaquin Valley Manufacturing Alliance and the Fresno Business Council will be hosting Valley Made: The 4th Annual Manufacturing Summit, on May 17 at the Fresno Convention Center Exhibit Hall.

The summit will celebrate the San Joaquin Valley’s long history of innovation in manufacturing and will include a workshop and resource expo and provide guests with resources and networking to build a world-class workforce aimed at creating a globally competitive environment for the Valley’s manufacturing industry.

An anticipated crowd of 1,100 is expected to attend.

The summit will feature keynote speaker Josh Linkner, a five-time tech entrepreneur, hyper-growth CEO, two-time New York Times bestselling author and venture capitalist who wants to bring more creativity, innovation, and reinvention to the manufacturing industry.

SJVMA Chairman and CEO of Betts Company Mike Betts, Executive Director of the Manufacturing Institute Carolyn Lee, Commissioner of California Public Utilities Commission Martha Guzman Aceves and former Fresno mayor and CEO of Central Valley Community Foundation Ashley Swearengin will also speak at the event.

“Our focus is to support this multi-billion dollar industry through developing the workforce and other resources, along with efforts such as the Valley Made Summit to enhance our competitiveness in the global market and continue to elevate the economic impact of manufacturing on the Valley,” Betts said.

There will 14 different workshops and a resource expo that will feature 100 different exhibitors and students from Valley high schools, community colleges and Fresno State who are interested in manufacturing careers will also attend the event.

Session topics include cybersecurity risk, women in manufacturing, employment law, industrial safety, tax reform and soft skills.

The summit is from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and costs $100 to attend.
