The Tulare County Board of Supervisors has voted to allow a zoning change that will green light construction on a new Dollar General store in Goshen.

The two parcels, which together comprise 4.97 acres on the northwest corner of Robinson Avenue and Betty Drive, had been zoned for agriculture, but the owner, Embree Asset Group, requested that that zoning changed to “service commercial,” which would allow the for construction of a retail development.

The four supervisors present for Tuesday’s board meeting, all voted in favor of the change.

Another Dollar General location — in the Fresno County town of Prather — is hosting a grand opening Saturday.

The store at 29481 Auberry Road will have special deals and free prizes that day, including a $10 Dollar General gift card for the first 100 adult shoppers.

The grand opening begins at 8 a.m.
