A local retailer is hosting a health fair and fitness challenge to benefit the family of Daniel Lopez-Galvan, the Fresno fire captain who recently died in an off-duty accident.

Athletic Performance Fresno at 340 Clovis Ave. in Clovis will host the event April 2 at 11 a.m. during Big Hat Days festivities. AP Fresno will feature fitness and nutrition vendors on site to answer questions and give out product samples.

The main event is a strength and skills competition to benefit the Lopez-Galvan family. The cost to enter the challenge is $10. The public is also welcomed to make contributions to the family fund as well.

Lopez-Galvan died a couple of weeks ago due to injuries from a tractor accident on his property. The 38-year-old was a 15-year veteran of the Fresno Fire Department.
