From po’ boys to beignets, Southern cooking will be on the menu when Huckleberry’s opens in Clovis later this month — and they’re looking to hire.

July 8-9 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., the eatery serving “Southern cookin’ with a California twist” will be holding a hiring event for 40-50 positions.

Reem Atkins — director of marketing for Heritage Restaurant Brands, which operates Huckleberry’s — said that the response for resumes and applications has been “tremendous.”

Heritage Restaurant Brands also operates Perko’s Cafe Grill and Cool Hand Lukes.

They are targeting a July 29 opening, filling the void left by former tenant Carrows at 510 Shaw Ave. in Clovis.

“We are thrilled to open our third location in the greater Fresno area and look forward to being a part of the Clovis community for years to come,” said Greg Graber, CEO of Heritage Restaurant Brands, the franchisor.

This marks the tenth location for the San Luis Obispo-based company, which purchased Huckleberry’s from Brooks Restaurant Group in 2016.

Four more locations are planned for Oakdale, Elk Grove, Anaheim and Yuba City, according to their website.

Open between 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., the restaurant serves signature dishes such as chicken and waffles, “N’awlins sandwiches,” creole-style catfish as well as standards like pancakes and omelets.
