(AP) — UCLA wide receiver Cordell Broadus, son of rapper Snoop Dogg, has left the program for a second time, coach Jim Mora said Monday.

Broadus returned to the Bruins as a walk-on this spring after leaving the team last August but was not listed on the roster as UCLA opened training camp Monday morning. Broadus said he planned to study film at UCLA at the time of his initial departure from football.

“I appreciate the fact that he came back out this spring and gave it another shot, but this is an incredibly talented young man in so many areas,” Mora said. “It will be fun to watch what he does with his life. We haven’t heard the last from him, probably just hearing the start.”

Broadus was a touted recruit coming out of Las Vegas prep football powerhouse Bishop Gorman and chose to sign with UCLA in February 2015 over rival Southern California, where his father was a frequent presence on the sidelines during Pete Carroll’s tenure.

“I’m gonna back him up 1,000 percent and throw out my USC drawers,” Snoop Dogg said after his son first committed to UCLA.
