The Save Mart Companies will celebrate its 70th anniversary by donating $70,000 to partner food banks in California and Northern Nevada, as well as offering weekly shopper and team member giveaways of in-store gift cards.

The Modesto-based company announced the giveaways will celebrate their unwavering commitment to helping local communities thrive.

The company says their 70th anniversary donation reflects on its “Valley Proud” roots starting with the first Save Mart Supermarket in the Central Valley, and growing to include FoodMaxx as well as Lucky California, all focused on dedication to fulfilling the evolving needs of shoppers.

Today, the Save Mart Companies operate all Save Mart stores in the Valley, as well as FoodMaxx stores and Lucky California stores in the Bay Area.

“I am incredibly grateful for our 70-year history established by our founding families and continued by our current family of extraordinary store managers and team members,” said Chris McGarry, CEO of The Save Mart Companies. “To express our appreciation for the decades-long support from generations of shoppers, the company is donating $70,000 to our partner food banks, strengthening our commitment to neighborhoods and communities.”

Shoppers and store team members at all Save Mart, FoodMaxx and Lucky California stores will also be able to win $70 gift cards.

Since opening in 1952, The Save Mart Companies have grown to more than 14,000 team members across its 200 stores, distribution sites and support centers across California and Northern Nevada.
