The Rocket Dog Gourmet Brats & Brew location at Willow and Nees avenues celebrated its one-year anniversary today.

The Fresno Chamber of Commerce was present to celebrate the anniversary with a ribbon-cutting event and award the owners with a proclamation celebrating the restaurant’s one-year mark.

Rocket Dog has been serving out its gourmet hot dogs out of its original location at Shaw and Blackstone avenues since 2015, and opened its second location in January 2018. Owners Kevin and Sarah Lisitsin opened the restaurant with another couple who are also co-owners.

“Rocket Dog came about because we were having a casual conversation one night, and we wanted something that would pair well with craft beer,” Sarah said. We wanted to ride the craft beer movement that’s not going anywhere. If anything it’s getting stronger. Tacos are well saturated, pizzas, burgers – there are great places, but there was definitely a niche that was open [for hot dogs].”

There are plans for a Rocket Dog location to open up in the Manchester Mall, but there is no solid word on when the third location will be open for business.

“We support local, and when Mo [Mo Bagunu, general manager of Manchester Center] reached out to us to be their flag ship to kind of pave the way, we were excited about that, I just don’t know when that will happen because it is out of our control,” Kevin said.
