California Health Sciences University’s College of Pharmacy will celebrate the addition of a new 17,000-square-foot annex building at a ribbon cutting on Aug. 17.

The expansion, which includes one large classroom, two smaller classrooms, a student lounge, collaboration rooms, study spaces and faculty offices, will better accommodate the pharmacy school’s students and staff as they await the university’s permanent campus, which will be constructed along Temperance Avenue, near Highway 168.

“With the generous support we’ve received from the City of Clovis and our community partners, this campus expansion will help enable us to compete with other prestigious professional schools in California and across the nation until our permanent campus is ready,” Florence Dunn, CHSU president, said in a statement. “We will attract highly qualified students, many of whom will then stay in the region to practice professionally.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony begins at 9 a.m. at California Health Sciences University, located at 45 N. Clovis Avenue in Clovis.
