Stewart and Lynda Resnick were in Fresno to help celebrate the breaking of ground for the new student union at Fresno State at the site of former campus amphitheater.

The Thursday ceremony marks the beginning of the construction of the 84,000-square-foot building named after the Wonderful Co. owners, who made the principal donation of $10 million to make the center a possibility.

“The students at every great university deserve to have a central hub on their campus,” Lynda Resnick said. “A place that they can go as an epicenter in their dynamic lives.”

A portion of the Resnicks’ investment will be used to create The Wonderful Scholar Center within the new student union, a dedicated space where more than 200 Wonderful Scholars scholarship recipients attending Fresno State will receive tutoring and counseling from their college-success specialists. These students received scholarships of upwards of $30,000, courtesy of the Wonderful Co.

The $60-million Lynda and Stewart Resnick Student Union is expected to be completed in fall 2021.

“We are all Bulldogs, through and through,” Lynda Resnick said.
