There were 25 businesses sold in the Fresno area for the third quarter of 2018, according to new data from BizBuySell, an online business-for-sale marketplace.

Of those 25 businesses, six were categorized retail-restaurant, six were retail-other, seven were service businesses, one was a manufacturing business and the remaining five were categorized “other,” according to BizBuySell.

In terms of number of businesses sold in Fresno, third-quarter activity was down nearly 42 percent compared to Q3 2017.

The median asking price for the businesses sold in Fresno for the third quarter was $500,000, with median revenue of $950,000, average multiple of revenue of 0.65 percent and median cash flow of $211,092.

There are currently 25 active listings of businesses for sale in Fresno County.

Nationally, small businesses sold for a median price of $249,000 in the third quarter, up 10.7 percent from the same time last year and the highest amount since BizBuySell started collecting data in 2007.

The median asking price grew 7.6 percent to $269,000, which translates to a 93 percent sales-to-ask ratio, up slightly from the 92 percent reported in Q3 2017.
