A Wal-Mart in Clovis celebrated its grand reopening today after the completion of store renovations.

Wal-Mart employees, members of the Clovis Police Department and the community gathered in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 323 W. Shaw Ave., Clovis east of Fresno State to hear speeches from management.

Wal-Mart also donated more than $3,000 combined to local veterans organization the American Legion, nonprofit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central California, Clovis High School, Clark Intermediate School and Tarpey Elementary School.

Renovations for the Wal-Mart started at the end of May. A new paint job was applied to the storefront sign, and parking lot lines were re-striped.

In addition to the fabrics and crafts department returning to the store, the cosmetic department was enclosed with its own dedicated cash register. Interior signs and fixtures were touched up, and the restrooms remodeled.

“We listen to our customers a lot about the things they are concerned about. We have a great partnership,” said Store Manager Johanna Stanislaus.  “We just wanted to make a great shopping experience — a cleaner shopping experience — so that they could see items they’re getting, especially with the new display signing.”
