QK, a longtime regional engineering and planning firm in the San Joaquin Valley, has announced Ronald J. Wathen as its new president and CEO.

Michael D. Knopf, the former president and CEO, will remain on as chairman for the company’s board of directors.

“QK is in good hands. I look forward to what’s next—the future,” Knopf said. “Because I know it will be bright.”

The implementation of this succession plan coincides with the 20th anniversary of the merger between Quad Engineering and Knopf Engineering. Formerly known as Quad Knopf, QK recently implemented a company-wide rebranding.

Wathen, a civil engineer, is a Valley native who has been with QK for nearly 15 years. He is also the former president and current state director of the San Joaquin chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC); board member of the Fresno/Madera Building Industry Association (BIA), former board chairman of the Saint Agnes Medical Foundation and former president of the Saint Agnes Men’s Club.

“One of the things I value most about QK is our company’s deep roots in the San Joaquin Valley,” Wathen said. “And its commitment to the community I have always called home.”

With more than 110 employees, QK has offices in Visalia, Fresno, Merced, Roseville, Bakersfield, Denver and Porterville.
