ARCHITECTURE

Fresno architect Arthur Dyson of Dyson Siegrist Janzen Architects has been named a multiple winner in the first annual AAP American Architecture Prize, which recognizes the most outstanding architecture worldwide.


Dyson won the Gold Award in the Architectural Design/Heritage Architecture for the Restoration of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fawcett House. Dyson also won 2 Honorable Mention Awards for his design of the DSJ Architectural Offices in Fresno. The awards were for the categories of Architectural Interiors and for Workplaces.

BANKING & FINANCE

Allan Stone, President and CEO of Valley Business Bank,Fresno, announced that Kao Saelee has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Information Security Analyst. Saelee joined Valley Business Bank in August of 2015. He has been in banking for twelve years, specializing in the areas of IT and IS for the last nine years.

HEALTH CARE

Family HealthCare Network Chief Operations Officer Norma Verduzco was honored at the 2016 Community Heroes Awards on Nov. 2, hosted by the College of Health and Human Services at Fresno State. Verduzco was recognized as one of the nine unsung heroes in the community whose actions, thoughts, and words have had a transformative impact in the region. Coming from a migrant farm working family, Verduzco and her family grew up without access to health insurance. This has fueled her desire to learn and excel to the next level in order to provide accessible, quality health care to others in her community.

Drs. Marta Atalla, Michael Shin and John Zweifler were honored with the Physician of the Year Mission Award during an Adventist Health Physician Leadership Symposium in San Diego on Oct. 10. Atalla is a board-certified pediatrician who joined Adventist Health / Central Valley Network in October 2015. Shin is a board-certified otolaryngologist who has been treating ear, nose and throat problems within the Adventist Health / Central Valley Network for nine years.

Jessi Grostefon, a certified physician assistant specializing in ear, nose and throat problems, has joined Adventist Health / Community Care – Selma. Grostefon has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Health Science, and a Master of Physician Assistant studies from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. She’s certified through the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

GOVERNMENT

Sanger City Manager Tim Chapa is pleased to announce the hiring of Tom Navarro as the city’s new Community Development Director. Navarro currently works for the County of Fresno and will be joining the City of Sanger staff on December 5. The position has been open since the retirement of Dan Spears in early September. In the interim, Kristina Chamberlin of the City Manager’s Office served as the Acting Community Development Director. Zweifler is a board-certified family medicine physician who has 33 years of experience in medical leadership and patient care roles. His current role is Regional Medical Director for the Adventist Health Plan.

SMALL BUSINESS

Principal Financial Group in Fresno announced that Matt Hebbe has joined its Central California Business Center. Hebbe will serve as Financial Advisor, assisting clients and businesses with their financial needs. REAL ESTATE

Fresno Realtor Jared Martin, one of the owners of the Keller Williams Westland Realty franchise, has returned for a second year as treasurer of the California Association of Realtors. In addition to serving his clients, Martin also is active with his local, state, and national associations of Realtors. He was president of the Fresno Association of Realtors in 2009, served on its Executive Committee in 2008-2009 and 2014-2015, and was its treasurer in 2014 and 2015.

TRANSPORTATION

JTS (Johanson Transportation Service), a leading third-party supply chain solutions provider, announced the addition of two new employees to the Perishable Freight team, based in Fresno. Mike Blake, a U.S. Navy veteran with 35 years of freight transportation experience, was hired as an Evening Operations Specialist. Katherine Arnst, with 12 years of customer service management experience, was hired as a Logistics Coordinator.
