A cannabis company is helping a local city rebuild from the ashes of an arson attack on a police vehicle.

Greenbrier Holdings, parent company of Cannable Cannabis, a dispensary and cannabis delivery service in Parlier, is donating a patrol vehicle to the Parlier Police Department after one of its cars was torched last month.

The case is still under investigation, according to Parlier police. No arrests have been made.

Parlier Mayor Alma Beltran said a new police vehicle runs $30,000-$40,000, plus an additional $25,000-$30,000 for the necessary equipment.

Beltran said the city has been in negotiation with Greenbrier over a business license that is expiring soon. The company decided to donate the new, fully equipped squad car as a start for the negotiations, she added.

Cannable Cannabis has been operating out of Parlier for delivery services since 2020 and opened its first store front in November 2021. It operates a production facility in the Parlier Industrial Park.

“I think that’s a start in good faith to keep the relationship between the city and Greenbrier in a good standing position,” Beltran said. “They are beneficial to our community and have gone far and beyond to donate, to give back to the community. It shows that they are aware of the situation that happened in Parlier and understand the importance of having a fully-equipped police department.”

A message left for Greenbrier was not returned.
