Sierra View Medical Center announced new visitor guidelines for emergency department patients, following state recommendations.

Starting April 11, Sierra View’s visitor guidelines welcome a single, unique visitor for emergency department patients. The changes reflect the latest information and recommendations from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Despite the face the number of COVID-19 cases has diminished over the last weeks, visitors will be screened by security personnel at the emergency department entrance and must not have symptoms of COVID-19. They also must not be in the process of testing for COVID-19.

In addition, visitors who have tested positive or have had a known exposure to a COVID-19 positive individual will not be permitted.

Visitors will be required to wear a mask or face covering that covers the mouth and nose upon entry at all times while on the premises. Each visitor will be required to remain in the patient’s room for the duration of their visit.

Visitors are also asked to maintain physical distancing from other visitors not from the same household, and are also asked to maintain physical distance from the facility’s health care workers.

The emergency department does house separate areas for patients who suspect they may have COVID-19. Sierra View healthcare employees encourage anyone seeking emergency treatment to spread the word to community members not to delay emergency care over fears of COVID-19.

Updated visitation guidelines, including those which outline visitors arriving by ambulance can be found at Sierra View’s website by visiting sierra-view.com/visitors.
