The Small Business Administration (SBA) has appointed George Flores the new Deputy Director for its Fresno District.

Using his extensive community service experience in the San Joaquin Valley and a strong leadership background, Flores will assist in the execution of SBA services throughout the Central California Coast’s 15-country region.

As Deputy District Director, Flores’ duties will include advocating for the region’s entrepreneurs, expanding access to SBA programs in rural and underserved communities, and increase the implementation of SBA services across the 15 central California counties, and supervise staff in the Fresno District Office.

“George will provide leadership to the SBA Fresno team that supports Central California’s continued growth through entrepreneurship development, small business expansion, and job creation,” said Fresno District Director Dawn Golik.

Flores is a graduate of Fresno State University, a 1st Lieutenant retired veteran in the Army National Guard, and a recipient of a Bronze Star for combat service in Iraq.  He previously served as the Chief of Police with the Veterans Affairs Central California Healthcare System, and was recognized as a Veteran Honoree for Memorial Day 2016.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to use my Federal government leadership experience to support the SBA team serving the San Joaquin Valley,” Flores said. “I look forward to working with the many organizations and lenders in this area who are using SBA programs to help small businesses start up, scale up, create jobs, and grow the area’s economy.”
