In celebration of American Craft Beer Week, the Central Valley Brewers Guild has brought local breweries together to create a new offering, specifically to draw attention to local brewers from the Valley.
Full Circle, Tioga Sequoia, Riley’s Brewing and more collaborated to brew an original creation to celebrate not only American Craft Beer Week, which begins today through May 22, but also to show support for one another following the pandemic.
“We had about 20 people show up from nine or ten different breweries to show us and brew it,” said Alex Van Horne, vice president of the Central Valley Brewers Guild and head brewer at Summer Fox Brewing Co. “It was really nice to hang out with other brewers and do something we’re all passionate about.”
“The beer is a hazy IPA,” he said. “People like the style; I think they’re going to come out and try it and hopefully meet some new breweries.”
The brew, named Safety Sandals Hazy IPA, will be released at both the Fresno and Clovis Summer Fox locations on Saturday, May 21, and uses ingredients from unique suppliers.
Summer Fox, formerly known as Amalgamation, is located at 6585 North Santa Fe Ave. in Fresno and 700 Clovis Ave. Unit 104 in Clovis.
“We selected some hops that a lot of us hadn’t used before,” Van Horne said. “It’s called Zappa; it’s actually a native North American hop from New Mexico.”
The Guild hopes to work with a wider variety of producers and brewers in the future.
“We’re going to build that culture, build that camaraderie; the easiest thing to do is come hang out one day and brew a beer,” Van Horne said.
The Guild hopes to participate in more promotions moving forward, in particular Central Valley Craft Beer Week, which takes place in the fall.
