McCaffrey Homes has donated furnishings from its model homes to Catholic Charities to be sold at the nonprofit’s thrift store.

Catholic Charities Executive Director Kelly Lilles accepted the donation from Brent McCaffrey, president of McCaffrey homes. The furnishings — sofas, coffee tables, bedroom furniture, dining room tables, chairs, lamps, bedding and artwork — comes from three model homes at the builder’s Gallery community in Clovis.

“With over 60 years of homebuilding in the Central Valley, we understand the importance of giving back to the local community,” McCaffrey said in a statement. “That’s why we’re pleased to donate this furniture to Catholic Charities to support the great work they do within our area. Catholic Charities is a safe harbor for those in need, providing our neighbors with food and clothing plus other valuable services.”

Lille said this is the third time that McCaffrey has donated furnishings to Catholic Charities, and the other times most of the items were sold within 24-48 hours.

“McCaffrey Homes has a legacy of giving back to the community and we are grateful for this very generous donation,” Lilles said. “We know the proceeds from the sale of these furnishings will have a big impact to help us support the vital programs and services that we deliver in the Fresno area.”

Catholic Charities thrift store is located at 149 N. Fulton st., and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Catholic Charities, which serves 140,000 clients with assistance to families with things including energy bills to career and job placement support, was the site of shooting spree last month by suspected gunman Kori Muhammad. Two of his three victims, who were targeted because they were white, were Catholic Charities clients.
