Wineries across Madera County are preparing for an early Valentine’s Day celebration this weekend.

The Madera Wine Trail’s Wine & Chocolate Weekend 2018 will take place at participating locations on Feb. 10 and 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. During the event, those with tickets and wristbands will have the ability to tour the wineries and sample the latest, award-winning vintages.

“Here at Ficklin, we’ll be exploring the ‘Wonderland of Wine,’” said Peter Ficklin, the president and master winemaker of Ficklin Vineyards, “and offering sips of our just-released 2017 Rose Port, as well a selection of our other highly-awarded ports.”

Ficklin added that his winery is expecting to host upwards of 1,500 to 2,000 guests during the weekend.

Tickets purchased in advance are $25 if purchased at arrival. Also present at the wineries will be food, vendors and music. Designated drivers will receive free admission.
