A Madera manufacturer just celebrated a major milestone — logging more than 1 million hours with no lost time due to injuries — an achievement reached by 100 employees over a span of six years.

Formerly known as Thomas Products, Inc., Nutra Blend manufactures feed for the livestock industry as a division of Land O’ Lakes Purina Feed. Opened in 1990, Nutra Blend serves customers west of the Rockies with more than 1,000 microingredients such as vitamins, trace minerals and amino acids.

As of Jan. 31, the exact number of hours with no lost time was 1,036,825. NutraBlend’s plant management team recently hosted a luncheon to thank employees for hitting the milestone. Madera city and county officials were also in attendance.

“I am very proud of all our employees. This success was possible due to the dedication and passion of many individuals who demonstrated through their actions that safety is our primary responsibility”, said John Silva, plant manager of NutraBlend.

According to Guinness World Records, the most zero lost time in man hours was achieved by Fluor Corp. of Sugar Land, Texas, a construction and design firm. Dating back to 1994, the firm hit 111.03 million man hours as of March 2013.
