DAV Charities of Central California and Segs4Vets will present two Valley veterans with Segways today.

Segs4Vets is a grassroots effort to award men and women who have sustained severe injuries while serving in Iraq or Afghanistan with a Segway.

Over the years, DAV Charities of Central California has raised funds for several local veterans to receive Segways. Donations for the purchase of the Segway are made possible through the annual Cindy Aoki Memorial Golf Tournament, which takes place this evening at Fort Washington Country Club after Michael Conner of Fresno and Fidel Bobadilla of Hanford receive their Segways.

Lt. Col. Al Kisler, USA (ret), vice president of Segs4Vets, will present the devices to the two veterans.

“These two brave individuals risked their lives to protect our country,” said George Steese, DAV Charities of Central California president. “We’re honored and utterly thrilled to be able to give something in return to such deserving people.”
